Story

Passion for horses: An agricultural business with horse breeding - a long tradition continued in a modern way.

Our more than 100 years family-run agricultural farm is located in Hedwigenkoog in northern Germany. The farm business has always been in change. But one thing has remained constant for decades: horse breeding.

Year after year foals grow up in small groups on our spacious meadows directly behind the North Sea dyke.

Laying a good and robust foundation for life - as sport horse or leisure horse - that is important to us! And the passion for breeding. The excitement, the tingling sensation of wondering what will come out of the mating, which has been subject of nights of discussions.

The breeding fortunes began with Heinrich Schoof, who achieved outstanding success in show jumping breeding with the Holstein damline 2137 and the grey stallion Dobel`s Cento by Capitol. Successes with Otto Becker in Nations Cups, team gold in 2000 at the Olympic Games in Sydney, winner of the 2002 World Cup Final and victories in the Grand Prix of Calgary and CHIO Aachen are testimony to Dobel`s Cento's outstanding sporting achievements. Other breeding successes include the licensed stallions Nekton by Nimmerdor and Casado by Coriano as well as Lamarque by Limbus, who won 2009 the World Championships for Young Show Jumpers in Zangersheide as a seven-year-old with Karl Brocks.

In 1978, Heinrich's son Otto-Boje Schoof took over responsibility for the farm. His career as a breeder of jumping horses began with the purchase of the mare Gerona by Ramiro from the Holstein damline 1916. Her daughter Wodka II by Lord, born in 1984, is one of the most important mares in the history of the Holsteiner Verband to date.

Wodka II produced 17 offspring by different stallions. She is the dam of four licensed stallions (Arturo by Athlet, Clearway by Capitol, Conway I and Conway II by Caretino) and one of the most decorated mares in the Holsteiner Verband.

Some of her important daughters are:
Carassina (Marassina) by Concerto II. She won the German Show Jumping Derby in Hamburg in 2009 with Thomas Kleis and is the dam of the licensed stallion United Way by Uriko.
Chika's Way (N-Caretina) by Caretino was victorious 21 times and placed over 120 times in international sport. Before she was sold to the Holsteiner Verband as a four-year-old, she gave birth to T-Cassina by Cassini I, the dam of the stallion Uricas vd Kattenvennen by Uriko. In 2024 he started successful at the Olympic Games in Paris.
One Way 3 (Retina) by Caretino was internationally successful in jumping competitions up to 1.50m under Christopher Frazer.

In 2015, the farm and breeding activities were handed over to Hartwig Schoof. He is pursuing horse breeding in a modern approach and a great deal of passion for every single foal.
